Minnesota campaign-finance law sets limits on how much individuals can give to a candidate during each two-year election cycle. For statewide offices like Governor and Lieutenant Governor, individuals may contribute up to $4,000 total. For candidates running for the Minnesota State Senate or House, the limit is $1,000 total.

Even more, donations of under $75 (or $150 for a married couple filing jointly) are especially encouraged. Minnesota’s Political Contribution Refund Program allows donors to apply for a refund of up to that amount after contributing to a qualified state candidate or party — making your donation count even more.
